Evening Snow at Kambara — Hiroshige
A vertical crop of "Evening Snow at Kambara" (1833), one of the most admired prints in Hiroshige's Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō. Houses sinking under falling snow and figures in straw capes and umbrellas, in nothing but white, gray and ink.

About this wallpaper
"Evening Snow at Kambara" (1833), station 16 of Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō. The landscape-format original, in the Cleveland Museum of Art's impression, is cropped to 9:16 around the houses and figures: snow-laden thatched roofs stack up while travelers in straw capes and umbrellas walk the snowy road in front. The sky sinks from gray to ink toward the top, in strong contrast with the white snow.
On the home screen
Houses and figures fill the middle and lower part; the sky above is plain. Keep icons at the top and the snow scene stays uncovered.
On the lock screen
The top is an ink-dark sky, but the white roofs sit close beneath it, so clock legibility depends on placement.
Colors and mood
Almost entirely white, gray and ink, with a little brown left in the house walls.
