iPhone Wallpapers (Free, HD)
Free 9:16 HD wallpapers for your iPhone lock screen and home screen. Instead of scrolling an endless list, drift across a map where wallpapers with a similar mood sit side by side. Currently 1,050+ wallpapers and counting — all of them work on iPhone.
How to set a wallpaper on iPhone
Open "Download HD" on any wallpaper page and long-press the image to save it to Photos. Then go to Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper and pick the saved photo for your lock screen and home screen. On the lock screen the clock sits on top of the wallpaper, so images that are not too bright at the top keep the time easy to read.
Pick one that works on the lock screen
Every wallpaper page has a preview switcher that mimics a real lock screen and home screen. You can check how the image looks behind the clock and notifications before downloading — no more "set it and regret it".
Find wallpapers that get along with your icons
On the home screen, the colors peeking out between icons decide the overall look. Wallpapers with the subject in the center or lower half, and some quiet space at the top, keep their character even with a full grid of apps. On the map, similar wallpapers sit next to each other — once you find one you like, drift around it to compare the whole family.
Screen resolutions: iPhone 18 Pro, 17, 16 and 15
Here are the native portrait resolutions of recent iPhones. Our wallpapers are delivered at 1080×1920, 1242×2688 or 1440×2560 depending on the image, and can be set on any model below. Wallpapers at 1080×1920 and 1440×2560 are 9:16 while modern iPhone screens are about 19.5:9, so the phone scales them up and crops roughly 18% of the width from the left and right edges (1242×2688 wallpapers already match the screen shape and are barely cropped). The subject is placed near the center, so the composition survives the crop — and you can always check the result in the lock/home screen preview on each wallpaper page.

Models not in the table, such as iPhone 14 and 13 (6.1", 1170×2532), work the same way: their screens share the tall, roughly 19.5:9 shape of the models above. iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation, 4.7", 750×1334) is different: its screen is about 9:16, so our 9:16 wallpapers (1080×1920 and 1440×2560) show almost in full, while a 1242×2688 wallpaper loses about 18% of its height on the SE (9% at each end). All resolutions are taken from Apple's official Tech Specs (support.apple.com).
Resolutions checked against Apple's official tech specs (as of October 23, 2026).
Frequently asked questions
What is the wallpaper size (resolution) for iPhone 18 Pro?
iPhone 18 Pro is 1206×2622 pixels (6.3 inches) and iPhone 18 Pro Max is 1320×2868 pixels (6.9 inches). An image at this resolution or larger will not look blurry as a wallpaper.
What wallpaper size do iPhone 17 and iPhone Air use?
iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro are 1206×2622, iPhone 17 Pro Max is 1320×2868, iPhone Air is 1260×2736 and iPhone 17e is 1170×2532 pixels.
Does a 9:16 wallpaper get cropped on an iPhone?
Yes. Current iPhone screens are about 19.5:9, narrower than 9:16, so the iPhone scales the wallpaper up and crops about 18% of its width (about 9% on each side). A 1242×2688 wallpaper has almost the same shape as the screen, so it is barely cropped. On every wallpaper page you can pick your model and see the exact crop.
Do the lock screen and home screen need different sizes?
No. Both fill the whole screen, so they need the same resolution. On the lock screen the clock sits over the top of the image, so a wallpaper that is dark at the top keeps a white clock readable. We measure the brightness of the clock area for every wallpaper and show it on its page.
What wallpaper size does iPhone Duo use?
The outer screen is 1398×2034 and the inner screen is 1878×2670 pixels when the opened phone is held upright. Apple's own wallpapers for the inner screen are landscape, 2670×1878. Our iPhone Duo page explains the details.
