A Corkscrew Aurora Australis (STS-45)
The aurora australis photographed from Space Shuttle Atlantis on STS-45 in spring 1992. A twist of green light stretches down the black frame; the crew noted its spiraling, corkscrew shape. Two-thirds of the frame is black, making this a minimal space wallpaper.

About this wallpaper
A Space Shuttle photograph from NASA's image library (s45-32-014, taken from Atlantis during STS-45, 24 March to 2 April 1992), cropped to 9:16 around the column of light. From just left of center, green light twists downward with a bright knot part-way along, surrounded by black space with sparse stars. The STS-45 crew noted the spiraling, corkscrew appearance of this particular sighting as especially interesting. A public-domain NASA photograph.
On the home screen
The green light sits left of center from the middle down; the upper half and right side are black, so icons at the top leave it uncovered.
On the lock screen
The top is black space, so a white clock reads clearly.
Colors and mood
Green aurora and black space, nothing else.
