Night Rain at Azuma Shrine — Hiroshige
"Night Rain at Azuma Shrine" (mid-1830s) from Hiroshige's Eight Views of the Environs of Edo: a black grove sinking into night rain, with a road crossing in front, drawn almost entirely in ink gradations and vertical rain lines. Mostly dark, and quiet as a wallpaper.

About this wallpaper
"Night Rain at Azuma Shrine" (mid-1830s) from Eight Views of the Environs of Edo, cropped to 9:16 from the Cleveland Museum of Art's impression. The dark grove of Azuma Shrine fills the left half; a road between rice fields cuts diagonally in front of it, with tiny figures in the distance. Sky and ground are gradations from gray to ink, and countless vertical lines stand for rain. There is almost no color — the damp night air is carried by tones of ink and gray alone.
On the home screen
The right half and the top are nothing but rain lines, so icons grouped at upper right leave the grove's silhouette visible.
On the lock screen
The top is medium-bright gray rain; a white clock is readable but subdued.
Colors and mood
Almost only ink, gray and off-white, with a trace of green in the fields.
