Moonlit Snow around Mont Blanc at Night, from the ISS
The Alps around Mont Blanc on the night of 17 October 2013, photographed by the Expedition 37 crew of the International Space Station. Snowy ridges glow pale in the moonlight and orange town lights are strung along the valleys: a rare view of mountains at night from orbit.

About this wallpaper
An ISS photograph from NASA's image library (iss037e015301, taken 17 October 2013 at 20:51 GMT with a 180mm lens), cropped to 9:16 around the snow-covered peaks. NASA's Gateway to Astronaut Photography files it as the Mont Blanc region at night with moonlit snow cover, with the nadir point at 45.9° N, 7.0° E on the Italian side. Gray-white moonlit ridges and black valleys interlock across the whole frame; along the top, orange town lights follow a valley in a line, and smaller clusters of lights are scattered at the bottom. A public-domain NASA photograph.
On the home screen
The snowy ridges interlock across the whole frame with fine changes of light and dark; icon labels get a little hard to read, and read best over the black valleys.
On the lock screen
A line of town lights along a valley crosses the top; a white clock is readable but a little harder to see over the lights.
Colors and mood
Gray-white snow, black valleys and orange town lights.
